See Judges xvi.
THIS superb illustration of the pulling-down of the temple of Dagon is pregnant with the very spirit and tumult of destruction and wrath. Here Samson wreaks his revenge for all his bitter sufferings among his foes. The hurry, the terror of the flying idolaters, the horror of the falling columns, the bent and straining figure of Samson, of whom it says, "So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life," are powerfully and splendidly portrayed.
